A few people have been in touch looking for good cheap players in Football Manager 2008 for teams lower down the leagues and without too much cash. Well I’ll start the ball rolling with some players for under 100k. Don’t expect these players to do the business for the likes if Liverpool and Real Madrid but lower down the divisions and in the right term they could be great!

beautiful buy, innately cheap. excellent purchase for a championship or league one side looking for firepower, will sign for anyone in the championship at the least, the lowest i’ve signed him at was league one Swansea and he still came over. helped propel my Preston club into second, and Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa are interested in his services. current value is 1m after a half-season. seems to be a perennial good player, had the same good results in fm07.
i think you need to load all players from finland to make him available though. played him primarily as a winger in a 4-4-2 and has contributed 12 goals and 6 assists in 18 league games.
yessu cabrera signed from santos to darlington and within 4 games i had bids from real and barca. a real gem probably as good if not better than babel.
Roberto from Paranaense, absaloute class probably best player in the league, coach says he would be a leading star for any premiership side

mika aaritalo is huge for me. i play as Hamburg and after one season he’s as good as van der vaart. valued at 18MILLION, signed him for 180k.

Bogdan Stancu isn’t just great for smaller clubs i would recommend getting him for bigger clubs also. In season 4 in my game he is a goal machine in the Spanish 1st division.
Ronald Raldes is a great player and so is Rene Mihelic!

Ben WIlkinson, Jonny Howson, Scott Gardner. Keep tabs on Emexca Orwubiko - he’s 15 but turns out to be a good player a few years later. Konan Serge Kouadio - versatile. I’ve got these players and more and it’s taken me a few seasons with Torquay but I’m now in the Premiership! It CAN be done - get a parent club, get some good loanees, get the tactics right and go from there.
I forgot to say - I started off in the conference and so the players I listed aren’t exactly wonderkids, but they grow to be come very good players. Well, it worked for me, hope you all can benefit from it. I also forgot to mention Tresor Kandol, Luke Rodgers and Matty Blinkhorn who really boosted me up the leagues with high scoring seasons. Alex Campana can be bought for cheap very easily, Billy McKay is a good buy. Joey Hutchinson is a very solid defender. Adrian Manchester also. Shane Blackett and Alex Bailey and Michael Synott make good Right/Left backs. That’s all I can remember!

Im not quite sure how you spell it but a GK called Jukka Lehvatroora from Finland is awesome You have to sign him quick though fiorentina normally come in for him after about 2 seasons and also kalle makkinen is good for lower leagues.

stancu isn t good for premier … i have bojan, aguero, vela, pato and huntellaar as strikers. I bought stancu but he isnt anywhere near the other strikers’ standards!!

Some good players- Gk-Lehtovaara, Enyeama(nigeria)-he usually is bought by the big teams but you can buy it at the start eith only 300K tops, eros Corradini, Anthony Scribe;
DR- Angulo(350k tops)(valencia always gets him in first winter), jose san roman(10k tops)(river plate)-he usually develop in about 1-2 years but becomes key player in argentina national team, dor malul;
DC- Sakho, Gaspari(sometimes he becomes a quality player)(only 2-3k),
Rigione(similar profile to gaspari but a little expensive 1-2 mil),
allesandro tuia, Saunier;
Dmc and MC- Daminuta, Dessena(2-3 mil but worth it), adrien(you can get it with only 600-700k), aliou diarra,kuzmanovic(a bit too expensive but worth it),salvatore burrai, vaillati, garibaldi(same as banega), yegor Filipenko and finally..Miguel Veloso(he develops quick and a LOT!)
AMRLC-Aaritalo, lomski(very cheap both in finland),yessu cabrerra, Anton Putilo(cheap and very good), George Wijnaldum, Anton Sosnin(500k top, if you buy him at the start of the game), lulinha, sergio mota, simone esposito, Gabriel torje, sotiris ninis, toure(rosemborg), villaluz;
FC,ST- genero Zeefuik(real bargain),omar andrade, nazarith, cesar lindado, bogdan stancu, ceravolo, and please try out Vantagiatto(you get it in first winter because he is very loyal and jus signed for rimini), Toto Tamuz( i sold it in my game to chelsea for 24 mil euro)

HINT: If you wan’t to make money and have a tight knit in the long run, always search for youngsters, even regens who are always free and they get world-class quite fast(especially spanish, english, brazilians, italians and germans)(other good nations are Holland, france, argentina, serbia, mexico, russia, romania and turkey)!

Steve Sidwell £1.5 million - amazing as a backup play hiim in a few positions and he goes up to 5million in half a season last season he scored 6goals in 15 apps and 9 assists in defensive midfield fans love him
Christian Poulsen - amazing swapped him with seville they got alonso and i got poulsen and 2.5 mill just as could and brings in some cash aswell
Henri Saivet Free - Wondekid absolutely amazing he woz worth 250K when i bought him now he is 1.3mil and only 18 send out on loan and see how well he does and them start him in cup matches to build him up

I would just like to add Pablo Piatti, he is from Argentina i think, he is worth 650.000, so quite cheap, he plays AMC, is 18 or 19 years of age. he is really a great player for a danish club, or a 1 division english club, I scouted him being Man U and was told that he was a decent player for the team. definately worth taking a look at.
If you select the Germany and Holland databases, there are a lot of players available for free and who will go to League 1 sides and above, including:

Have a look through the ‘Contract Expired’ players, there are some real bargains to be had.
There’s also Liviu Ganea (Romanian striker - look in Romanian U21 team) who is quite handy and available for free.
